As AE and DE postnominals are still relatively new, editors should provide a full spelling or explanation. It may also be necessary to explain IPEd.
For example, ‘Jane Doe, AE (Accredited Editor, Institute of Professional Editors Limited)’, or ‘Jane Doe is an Accredited Editor (AE)’.
Qualifications should be listed in this order:
- national and royal honours (AO, AM, AC, KCMG, etc.)
- degrees, diplomas
- fellowships, then memberships (including AE and DE).
Both AE and DE postnominals apply to individual editors only and are not to be used after business names. IPEd accredits editors, not editing businesses.
