Accreditation through IPEd lasts five years, after which accredited editors (AEs) must apply to have their accreditation renewed.

If you were accredited in 2012, and wish to maintain your AE status, you must apply for renewal in 2017.

To renew your accreditation, you will need to show that you have:

  • been actively involved in the editing profession, and
  • undertaken appropriate professional development activities to maintain and extend your editing skills.

There is no exam for renewal of accreditation. Instead, you provide relevant details of your professional activities in your application form.

If you intend to apply for renewal of accreditation this year, please read the Guidelines for renewal before completing the application form.

The application fee for renewal of accreditation is $150 for IPEd members, and $175 for non-members. The fee must be paid when you submit your application. Payment methods are set out in the Guidelines.

If you have questions about renewal of accreditation that are not covered in the Guidelines, please email your query to admin@iped-editors.org.

Find an editor

IPEd has established the Editors Directory. Clients can search the directory for freelance editors using specific criteria. These will identify editors that have specific interests, skills or experience in certain areas.
