Historical novel prize launched
For members who are authors in addition to being editors, the Historical Novel Society Australasia (HNSA) and its partners have launched a prize worth $30,000.
HNSA has partnered with the ARA Group, in association with the New England Writers’ Centre, to announce the prize.
Australian and New Zealand authors, publishers and agents are eligible to submit historical novels published traditionally or self-published between 1 January 2019 and 30 June 2020. For this prize, historical fiction is categorised as a novel written at least 50 years after the novel’s events, or written by an author who was not alive during the time period of the story.
Entries will be judged based on excellence in writing, depth of research and appeal to readers.
Submissions are open until 30 June 2020. The long list will be released in mid-September and the short list in mid-October. The prize winner will be announced on 18 November 2020. More information about the prize is here.
