Fair pay rates for self-employed editors
IPEd’s Pay Rates Working Party (PRWP) has completed the first phase of its work, researching and developing a scale of fair hourly pay rates for self-employed Australian editors at three stages of their careers and/or levels of expertise.
The information will be posted to the website in two parts (we will advise as soon as it is live). The first will be in the public section of the website, for members and clients; the second in the member-only section, with more detail for members to help them assess appropriate rates to charge.
The working party will now develop improved and new questions for the next IPEd member survey, expected to be released later this year. The PRWP will also explore setting up an IPEd rates tracker.
Work on New Zealand rates will follow, as well as consideration of in-house pay rates and working conditions.
