IPEd Ambassadors announced

Posted on: 21 March 2019

The Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd) is proud to announce its first ever Ambassadors.

The IPEd Ambassador project is a two-year program of the Institute’s Professional Development and Academic Editing standing committees to enhance the editing profession and educate industry about the role of editors in the publishing process. The project is supported by the Copyright Agency Cultural Fund.

The first year of the project saw IPEd

  • develop a national online professional development program for editors – essential to ensure access for all our members, including those in regional areas and those with disability
  • revise the current thesis editing guidelines and develop resources about the editor’s role to address misunderstanding of editors and their services among higher degree research students and their supervisors.

Now, in the its second year, the project is building on these achievements by equipping IPEd members around the nation as Ambassadors to give presentations to universities, libraries, writers’ centres and writers festivals aimed at dispelling misconceptions about editors and the editing process, and to give advice on editors’ role in the publication process.
