The
National Mentoring Program for editors was a started as a pilot program by the
Canberra Society of Editors (CSE).
Since
late 2012 it has grown to a national program which continued to operate initially under the coordination of CSE. It still operates from Canberra with the existing joint national coordinators continuing in that role, no matter what the location of the mentor or mentee. It offers
the opportunity for members to improve their
editing skills with professional oversight and feedback from experienced
editors.
The
program provides a two-way learning experience for both mentor and mentee and
is aimed at editors at all levels.
It provides benefits to the editing profession by increasing members’ skills which
in turn helps safeguard the reputation of the profession as a whole.
The Mentoring Program Guidance Notes describe how the program works. These notes are free to you to download and pass on as you wish.
If you have any queries, would like to be put in touch with your local coordinator, or would like the mentor or mentee application forms, email either of the national coordinators:
Ted Briggs AE, tedbriggs@grapevine.com.au
Elizabeth Manning Murphy DE, emmurphy.words@gmail.com
We look forward to welcoming you to the program in some capacity if you have skills to share or need expert guidance.
