Corrigenda

Since the call for registrations for the accreditation exam was announced on 10 July 2008, the Accreditation Board has been refining procedures to ensure the exam's efficient conduct and administration. Summarised below are the changes that have been made to Your guide to the 2008 accreditation exam and the accreditation Q&A since these were first posted on the website. The online versions of these documents are up to date.

Permitted:

  • annotated references: post-it notes, comments in the margins
  • bound, typed notes, which, for the purposes of the exam, are to be considered ‘hard-copy references'; if these represent style guides, they are to be handed in with the exam paper.

Not permitted:

  • loose sheets of printed, photocopied or hand-written materials
  • pages of photocopied or handwritten material stuck into books
  • hand-written lists of non-standard proofing symbols
  • electronic references (e.g. dictionaries)
  • HB pencils, highlighter pens (see below)

In addition to the 15 minutes' reading time, 5 minutes will be allowed at the beginning of the exam for candidates to write their candidate reference number at the top of each page.

Writing materials

The following are permissible: black, red and dark blue pens (ink, Artline, Frixion erasable), and B range pencils, e.g. 2B. HB and H range pencils are too faint, as are highlighter pens, and may not be picked up by the scanner.
