By the Pay Rates Working Party
The draft “Guidelines for client conduct” are now available in the IPEd member portal for your feedback. The guidelines have been developed to help self-employed editors and their clients work together.
They aim to better inform members and their clients about what constitutes fair and acceptable professional practice, and to provide principles for preventing or solving problems in the editor–client relationship.
Thank you to those members who have already provided feedback – your comments are valuable and the Pay Rates Working Party will be revising the guidelines, as appropriate, before releasing them to members in September to use with their clients in a trial.
Particularly, we recognise that the examples and directions given under “Changing an agreement” still need some work. Thanks for pointing that out.
For more information about the feedback and trial period, please refer to the member email distributed on 12 July 2022.
In this consultation stage, we invite IPEd members to give feedback on the draft guidelines before they are released.
Please send your comments to Nicole Mathers at secretary@iped-editors.org by Wednesday 31 August. This consultation period precedes any actual use by members with their clients in a further trial period.
