From the Special Interest Group on Academic Editing
The first meeting for 2025 of the Special Interest Group on Academic Editing (SIGAE) was held on 13 February 2025, chaired by facilitator Ann Philpott. As usual, there was a good turnout of IPEd people (52 registered for the event).
We discussed:
- when to choose numerals or words, where we did a few exercises to test ourselves
- how to manage endnotes in Word (with advice to delete them from the document, park them elsewhere, and return them to the document)
- other miscellaneous matters.

About the SIGAE
We hold informal meetings every second month to discuss issues and questions about academic editing. All are welcome. We have a large number of members interested in aspects of academic editing. Around 200 professional members are listed in the Editors Directory as seeking work in this field, and many other types of IPEd members are also interested. You can find material on academic editing on the IPEd website and member-only portal.
