Trivia night

by Paul Anderson

How many grapes does it take to make a bottle of wine? See below for the answer. This was one of the 30 general-knowledge questions put to players at EdNSW’s inaugural online trivia night on 6 April.

Elisabeth Thomas, News Editor, curated the quiz and hosted the Zoom event. Participants now know just how eclectic her playlist is, judging by the music questions.

Twenty-five contestants vied for bragging rights with Michael Vnuk taking out first prize. Congratulations to Michael and the other prize winners: Anne-Marie Tripp, Susan Brown-Neaves and Hazel Baker; with a special mention for Team Ellipsis.

We are grateful to Allen & Unwin and Macquarie Dictionary (Macmillan Publishers Australia) for providing the prizes (books and six-month online subscriptions); and to Susie Pilkington, Administration and Events Manager, for organising the prizes.

In addition to wrangling Zoom, committee members Sara Kitaoji, Caroline Hunter, Julie Ganner and I assisted with the scoring. Zoom’s chat function was used, something of an experiment — we like to think we got there in the end and thank all for playing with such good spirit (and patience). It was a fun event.

The eight new AEs from EdNSW were acknowledged at top of the bill.
