IPEd sponsors the Residential Editorial Program
Today (Monday 6 December) is the final day for applications for the Residential Editorial Program (REP), a training program for mid-career editors looking to enhance their literary editing skills through intensive workshops with highly experienced and respected industry practitioners.
To support editors to access this valuable professional development opportunity, IPEd will sponsor one editor to attend the REP, presented by the Australian Publishers Association.
This means that IPEd members who have been offered one of the 15 positions available are welcome to apply to IPEd to have up to $2000 of their associated expenses reimbursed or paid on receipt of expense-related receipts or invoices. This covers the $1800 fee for the REP and contributes $200 towards other expenses, such as travel.
More information about the sponsorship is on the IPEd website.
More information and the application form for REP are at https://www.publishers.asn.au/documents/item/837.
BWF–IPEd authors and editors in conversation
The inaugural 2021 Brisbane Writers Festival–IPEd series of authors and editors in conversation was really successful in highlighting the role editors play in the publishing process.
The event will continue in 2022 and we’ll announce the line-up of author/editor pairs early next year.
Celebrating members’ successes
Congratulations to IPEd associate member Jen Scanlan, who heads the editing team on Inside Story, the wonderful world of writing, illustrating and publishing children’s books.
Inside Story, a full-colour illustrated book, is a resource and guide for aspiring writers, illustrators, editors and designers.
Commissioned by the New England Writers’ Centre, with grant funds from Create NSW specifically allocated for creating the first-draft material of the book, the book is being produced and published by UPA Books, a collaborative imprint newly launched by United Publishers of Armidale partners Christmas Press and Little Pink Dog Books.
The book will be published under the UPA Books banner in May 2022. A crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for the book’s printing and marketing is open until 15 December. You can access it at: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/inside-story-children-s-books-demystified/x/3485227.
