President’s report

Welcome to December! The year has flown by, and I’m already planning for 2025.
The accreditation exam results have been announced. Huge congratulations to our three new accredited editors!
- Andrea McKay
- Anna Bykova
- Lawrence Patchett
Andrea, Anna and Lawrence, I hope you’ve had a chance to celebrate and relax after all your hard work studying, as well as taking the exam itself.
Thank you to those of you who joined us for our chat with James Fuller about small business accounting for Aotearoa editors. James kept the topic entertaining and engaging, and I definitely learned a lot about what expenses I can claim and how GST works with the types of clients I work with.
You will have seen the dates for the 2025 conference – will you be going to Adelaide? It’ll be a mission for some of us regional people, but I hope you’re able to attend. I’ve only met a couple of our members in person, so I’m looking forward to seeing more of you face to face.
December marks my one-year anniversary as branch president. Thank you all for your support and encouragement as I’ve found my way. I have enjoyed the year and getting to know more about our members and IPEd. And thank you to our committee members, Joan Gladwyn, Juanita Nieuwoudt, Jane Matthews and Rina Wongpanich. Your support has been much appreciated.
I hope you can take a good break over the Christmas and New Year period. Time to recharge, get outside, hang out with friends and family, and generally not look at work emails. That’s my plan, anyway.
See you all next year,
Deborah
