Publisher joins forces with women’s community
Future Women and Hachette Australia have embarked on a two-year publishing and entertainment partnership.
A joint media statement said both organisations were renowned for inspiring and connecting Australian women through conversation and storytelling. ‘Closer alignment between these much-loved brands is an unmatched opportunity for even deeper engagement with female audiences,’ the statement said.
IPEd CEO Karen Lee welcomed the initiative and will contact both organisations to discuss ways in which IPEd can become involved.
‘The symbiotic relationship between editors and authors means there is a great opportunity for IPEd to participate in this partnership and we’ll explore that with Future Women and Hachette,’ she said.
Future Women is a community of professional women, designed to help its membership connect, learn and lead. It offers twice-weekly online events, immersive leadership courses, podcasts and scholarships, and has published its first non-fiction book. Future Women supports the Australian Indigenous Education Foundation and delivers the NSW Rural Women’s Scholarship.
Future Women’s founder and managing director Helen McCabe said: ‘Hachette Australia shares our commitment to advancing women’s equality and, in turn, we value their contribution to telling stories by and about women. Together we will deliver an expansive and exciting new program of events and opportunities for the Future Women membership.’
The entertainment partnership between Future Women and Hachette Australia will include regular live-streamed events, a curated online book club and International Women’s Day celebrations. Hachette Australia authors will be integrated into Future Women’s panel discussions, social club events, newsletters and the annual Future Women Summit. They will also collaborate to deliver the next four seasons of the Anonymous Was a Woman podcast, including feature interviews with authors and discussions of book themes by hosts Astrid Edwards and Jamila Rizvi.
Hachette Australia Marketing and Communications Director Emma Rusher said: ‘Hachette will engage Future Women’s Australian audience with content designed to entertain, inform and inspire conversation around the stories that matter to women now and in the future.’
In September 2021, the first Future Women book published by Hachette Australia will be released. It is an in-depth exploration of how Australian women’s lives have been reshaped by the pandemic. Future Women’s first book, Untold Resilience, was released in October 2020.
