by the branch presidents
You will have noticed in advertisements that some branch speaker events are being recorded and made available after the event.
Naturally, this has raised questions about the privacy of members attending these events, so we thought it was worth explaining the nature of the recordings. Such recordings are edited to remove the questions and answers sections of the event, so only the speaker’s presentation is included.
The screen will only show the speaker’s screen, and not any attendees’ screens or chat comments; the names of attendees will not be included in any form. If you attend, it is requested that you hold all questions and discussion to the end of the address, so they can be easily edited out.
The aim of recording speaker events is to make these valuable resources available to more people. Depending on the terms agreed with the speaker, the recording may be made available to those who booked but were unable to attend, or possibly used to create a transcript of the presentation for publication in this newsletter. In some cases, we may also be able to provide recordings for sale to those who were unable to attend at the time.
These arrangements may vary, and we therefore recommend you check the terms specified on the meeting invitation to avoid disappointment.
